Aeromexico Rewards, recently renamed from Club Premier, is one of Latin America's largest loyalty programs, dominating the Mexican market. The program also has several earning opportunities beyond flights as well, allowing you to earn on daily spending like Uber and Uber Eats, luxury hopping brands, hotels, and much more.

Booking flights

As we discussed in our reaching elite status article, Aeromexico uses a spend-based formula to find how many miles you'll earn from each flight since 2022. General members start earning at 8 miles per dollar on the base fare of each ticket (total minus taxes and fees). However, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium status will get you an earn rate of 11/13/16 miles per dollar spent (3/5/8x bonuses).

This spend-based earning heavily favors corporate travelers who are agnostic to prices and hurts those bargain hunting for the best deals. However, if you aren't flying Aeromexico or Delta Air Lines, you can use any of its SkyTeam or airline parents for more traditional earning patterns.

Taking Air France as an example, members earn between 20% (for lowest fare economy) and 150% for first class. Premium economy is the first tier of award full 100% earnings, followed by a 25% bonus for business class (and full fare PE) and 50% for first class. This is lower than, say, Virgin Atlantic, which will give you 200% of distance + an elite bonus for business class, but it is potentially lucrative for North American travelers given the exclusive benefits on Delta Air Lines. Each carrier has a different earning ratio, so double-check before entering your frequent flyer number on Aeromexico Reward's website (important difference from Aeromexico's website).

Aeromexico is also partnered with GOL, LATAM, and COPA Airlines. The former will give you 100% of distance flown in any cabin class, while LATAM's chart varies a bit more. For those traveling in the region, the trio can be a useful way to continue earning points on SkyTeam despite being closely aligned to oneworld or Star Alliance carriers.

Hotels, retail, and Uber

Another way to earn a significant chunk of points is to transfer over from hotel programs. Aeromexico Rewards is partnered with no less than 11 hotel partners, including all the big names such as Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt, Accor ALL, and many others.

Conversion ratios vary but you'll be the usual numbers. Accor is the 'best' partner at a 4000:2000, IHG uses a spend-based system of 2 miles per $1 spent, and Bonvoy is 3:1 with a bonus of 5,000 miles for every 60,000 Marriott points transferred.

The best daily spending partner is Uber and Uber Eats, which has partnered with several carriers across the globe, including Air Canada and British Airways. You earn 1 mile per $1 spent if you're a Base or Gold member, which rises to 1.5 points per $1 for Platinum and Titanium members. The catch is that you must have an Uber One subscription to earn miles, but there is a discounted rate for those in Mexico.

For frequent travelers and those who order in, this is a great way to earn points on daily spending, earning double when you use a rewards credit card as well. While these amounts are small, they quickly add up over the course of months for those who use the app heavily.

Aeromexico has also partnered with several Mexican retailers for some great opportunities. Macstore, which sells all Apple products, allows you to earn 1.6 miles for every $1 spent. This can be a great way to earn a few thousand miles with each iPhone, Mac, or accessory you may purchase.

The program has also partnered with select fashion and lifestyle company Estee Lauder stores across Mexico to earn at the same 1.6 miles per $1 spent. Estee Lauder includes cosmetics brands Mac, Jo Malone, and The Cosmetic company.

Several other partners such as bookstore Gandhi, luxury department store El Palacio de Hierro, and Compudabo are listed for earning miles for those who are keen not to miss any opportunities.

Credit cards

In addition to being a transfer partner for American Express Rewards, Citi ThankYou, and Capital One, Aeromexico Rewards has several co-brand credit cards as well.

American Express has three co-brand cards: the Aeromexico Card, The Gold Aeromexico Card, and The Platinum. Each has an attractive intro bonus and earns 1.6 miles per $1 spent on spends in Mexico, 2.08 and 1.84 miles per $1 spend abroad on the Gold and Platinum (same as domestic for the Blue), and 4.8/3.2/2.4 miles for every $1 on Aeromexico spends. The two premium cards also include access to all Aeromexico Lounges with two guests and 3/2/1 companion vouchers on each card.

There are plenty of bonuses for hitting spend limits as well, so this is a card to look into for anyone who travels frequently and resides in Mexico. However, it comes at a cost of $120/$450/$1,000 for each card annually, so review your spending to see if you extract the full value of the bonuses.

Santander also has three competing offerings, the standard, Platinum, and Infinite. As Visa cards, these might have more acceptability globally, and the spend bonuses can net you over 90,000 miles a year. However, the lack of access to the Centurion Lounge and only one companion voucher means Amex has more perks. However, the annual fee is also dramatically lower for each card, at just free/$240/$360 for each of the cards.
